4 Steps to make Thin Hair look Thicker

If you follow me on social media, you will already know I have thin and fine hair. Whilst I have always hoped for a miracle, I've now realised that it's never going to happen and there's probably a greater chance that Michael Buble will declare his undying love for me (Michael, my contact details are on the homepage.. just saying!). Anyhow, here are my top tips & products for making your thin hair look and feel thicker!

Step 1 - The Basics

Let's start with shampoo and conditioner. Your shampoo needs to do 2 main jobs: 1. It needs to really clean your hair, to ensure there's no residual styling products or leave in treatments present. 2. It needs to be body building, so adding some thickness to the hair shaft. When it comes to conditioner, ensure it isn't too heavy and helps to strengthen your hair. My favourite shampoos & conditioners are:

Step 2 - Pre-Blowdry Styling

In this step I concentrate on 2 areas - the roots and the hair shafts.

For the roots, I use the Colour Wow Raise the Root product. It gives this instant body and lift, without any stickiness or brittleness, so the hair is flexible feels comfortable all day.

For the hair shafts I love the Colour Wow Dream Cocktail. It's enriched with sulfur-rich sea kale, protein-building Amino Acids and B Vitamins which reinforce and strengthen your hair and restore resilience. It’s been clinically proven to reduce breakage by 50% with just one use!

TOP TIP: Style your hair with a wave in it. This could be created by either using a hair straighter or curling tong, or the Dyson Airwrap. Wavy or curled hair looks thicker than straight hair.

Step 3 - Pump up the Volume

My favourite post-blowdry product is the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Body Builder Spray. This sprays on wet but dries quickly to feel like a dry shampoo. It's a great day 2-3 product, when your hair has gone a little flat. Simply spray into the roots and use your fingers to plump the hair up! It also provides heat protection and smells gorgeous!

Step 4 - Give the illusion of Thicker Hair

Finally, if you have thin hair or suffer with patches of hair loss, this product is perfect! The Toppik Hair Fibers are minuscule hair fibres that mimics your hair. Use it to fill in patches where hair growth is thin to give the illusion of thicker hair, either along partings or the hair line. It's waterproof and clings to your hair so won't move during the day.
